  1. To begin with, I would recommend The Golden Bough by J. Fraser: although this book itself has long belonged to the history of science, and not to its actual state, it will teach you how to talk about comparative mythology in general, how to extract not only the myth, but also the world from the myth. And then you can follow the bibliographic instructions in the corresponding articles of the encyclopedia “Myths of the Peoples of the World” and the one-volume “Mythological Dictionary”.

  2. You can take a look at M. Mathieu's book on Ancient Egypt.
For example, “Myths of Ancient Egypt” – about myths, their meaning + the translations themselves are given.
The book itself is not very voluminous, but it is quite informative for reference.

  3. “Norse mythology. Encyclopedia”, Moscow, Eksmo Publ., 2006, St. Petersburg, Midgard Publ., 2007. Everything written by Meletinsky. Phoebe web is always a good place to rummage.

  4. At my Faculty of Philosophy, Egypt is studied by Egyptian mythology ” Rak I. V and the aforementioned book Assman Y. A good set. The essays are exciting, but serious. It is very likely that you will like it.)

  5. First of all, I advise you to pay attention to the two-volume book “Myths of the Peoples of the World”, which was published in the late 1980s under the editorship of S. A. Tokarev. There are essays on religions themselves and individual deities (with literature), as well as on various mythological subjects in general (for example. What is a myth, solar myths, creation myths, etc.).
There is also a work on the Mythology of the Ancient World, Moscow, 1977 (ed. Yakobson V. A.), where there are essays on Egypt and Greece, this is a translated edition based on the results of the symposium

On Egypt in Russian there is a work Korostovtseva M. A. “Religion of ancient Egypt”; Assman Yan “Egypt: theology and piety of early civilization” M., 1999; Demidchik A. E. 6. The magnificent book “Survival of the Ancient Gods” by J. Seznec. It should be translated into Russian, and you should definitely read it there about symbolism, ancient gods, and art.

  7. You can advise a lot, but it depends on what purpose. We do not know anything about the actual “ancient” history, because such a period in the history of mankind has never existed. Starting with the simple truth that the existence of the Copper Age is not possible in principle. The order is simple – processing of ferrous metals, obtaining steel, and only then copper, tin, bronze, etc. It is impossible to process stone at this level, it is not possible to create sculptures of this quality… In reality, we will probably never know who came up with all this and why, much less find out how it really happened. Therefore, I advise you to read books such as the one below, more useful for the mind.

“Encyclopedia of myths. The true story of Max Fry, author and character. Volume one. A-K ” (2002)
