Can we say that evolution is intelligence? Or is there something I don't understand about the definition of intelligence?
Here we have human intelligence. There is elephant intelligence. Smart animals have a lot of natural intelligence. There is AI-computer intelligence. Can we say that evolution is intelligence? It solves problems of problem solving and optimization, only very slowly, although sometimes quickly. Here, for example, a colony of bacteria will solve the most complex biochemical problem, how to cope with some toxin, in a few days. A whole laboratory of scientists with computers would not have been able to cope so quickly.
