  1. Learn logic

Our speech and thinking are interconnected, so in order to talk logically, you must also think logically. Developing logical thinking is the first step to successful oral communication. Thinking is a cognitive function of the brain responsible for receiving, processing, and reproducing information from the outside world. Logic allows you to correctly reason, operate on existing knowledge, and identify cause-and-effect relationships, which, in turn, contributes to the correct construction of dialogue and argumentation.

Logical thinking is developed by tasks, puzzles, and intellectual games.

    Develop your speech skills

Speech is not just a reflection of our thinking. The very formation of our consciousness and mastering various knowledge is impossible without speech. As a means of expressing thoughts in the process of communication, speech becomes the main mechanism of thinking. Developing speech skills is necessary for proper communication, for maintaining a dialogue, in order to understand the interlocutor and be understood. Speech skills are developed in the process of reading books and in the process of direct operation with language signs – words, letters, word forms: solving crosswords, crosswords, filwords, playing “Scrabble”.

Personal communication with a more intelligent and versatile interlocutor not only contributes to language development, but also to an overall increase in intelligence.

    Expand your horizons

Eloquence and logic undoubtedly provide an advantage in dialogue, argument, and any live communication, but they cannot compensate for the stinginess of the mind. To be a winner in any dispute, you need a broad outlook, well-read, and most importantly-the ability to correctly operate with the acquired knowledge. In general, a constant increase in intelligence is necessary for a modern person to keep up with progress, to win in conditions of constant professional competition. Expanding one's horizons comes at the expense of cultural education, understanding the problems of artistic works. By building up this cultural base, you stimulate thought processes, develop critical thinking and your own perspective.

How to train it all at the same time

The Wikium service develops online simulators to improve brain performance. They are based on scientific methods of studying the brain and develop its main functions-attention, memory and thinking. In addition, the service offers a special program for developing speech skills – Wikium.A POLYGLOT. It consists of cognitive and verbal simulators, thanks to which it comprehensively develops speech-thinking skills. Introductory testing when registering on the site will reveal strengths and weaknesses, and the service will create a personal training program based on this, and daily training sessions of just 15 minutes will help maintain brain tone.

  2. First you need to learn to think. And think fast, automatically. You need to be able to distinguish facts from judgments, estimates from objective data, arguments from idle chatter. To be able to speak logically, you need to see logic. Feel it. And don't fall into logical traps like “if a is after b, then a is a consequence of b”.

  3. Here the question is about speech and cognitive processes that allow you to form speech as profitably as possible, spending minimal time on reflection.

The first step to perfect speech is to have all the diversity of the language. After all, one object can be described in different words that carry different colors. The order of words, their meaning, shades of their meaning, and so on allow you to soften corners somewhere, and somewhere push your interests quite authoritatively, but without visible aggression. Knowledge of a variety of languages allows you to exchange speech patterns with the other person in your favor very profitably.

The second step is charisma. Charisma, in this case, is the totality of your personal influence on people, ranging from fear to adoration. Charisma can be generated by first impressions, achievements, rumors, biases, and so on. But the fact that a person with a stronger charisma has an advantage in an argument or dialogue is obvious. In public disputes, a charismatic person can even answer something without straining, understanding that people will support him and this will put a huge psychological pressure on his opponent. You can develop charisma in two ways: to hone technically, that is, these are mechanical ways of nlp, nonverbals; or in a natural way: just communicate with people on some serious and deep topics, where you can find room to influence a person's opinion, excluding some objective factors. Empathy also helps a lot.

The third step is the experience of conducting negotiations and dialogues. Knowledge of boundaries, that is, what people perceive acutely, and what is not very, knowledge of where you can push, and where you can lure the interlocutor. This is a very important indicator of how a person can manipulate and lead his less experienced opponent to failure. Experience has a very serious impact, adding to one of the parties not only objective superiority in the form of knowledge, the ability to level unpleasant moments, with minimal losses, etc., but also subjective superiority in the form of confidence and calmness, which is very much appreciated in a dialogue. The experience also allows you to give out high-class, confident and calm lines that are very difficult to answer correctly, without wasting time on long thoughts, almost without hesitation. Experience also helps you avoid logical mistakes and gives you an intuitive understanding of where to keep silent and where to insert a word.

The most important point in a dialogue is the ability to think. If a person is incompetent and does not know what they are talking about, it will lead them to complete collapse. The tale “The Naked King” is about this. After all, often slippery demagogues are accused of being empty. And they can't refute it in any way, which greatly undermines the position in the dialogue. The ability to think is the foundation, the core of a dialogue that will allow you, if not to win, then at least not to lose.

  4. There is nothing easier if you understand the essence of what you want.

It is necessary to learn to reason, and this means practicing thought.

In the process of reasoning, there is a special advantage: practice strengthens skills, and the result is a good theory, continuously expanding its boundaries and inextricably linked to the practice so beloved by our people.

In order to improve your reasoning skills faster, you should abandon the oral exchange of information and start actively exchanging text, trying to significantly improve your comments on such resources.

In this regard, a commentary is much preferable to a post or article with much more letters.

  5. Having the ability to think logically does not guarantee a competent and logical speech. The belief to the contrary is false. Many people who have very good logic are extremely bad at expressing thoughts.

To speak logically, you need to learn how to correctly formulate and express an idea. Start by evaluating your written messages on any social media platform. See how often you use ellipsis and question marks and exclamation marks in excess, and how often the other person asks clarifying questions after your messages. If often, it means that there are real problems with the harmony of presentation and formulation of thoughts.

Start writing. Just write to your personal account, for example. Or on paper. Write a short story. Let's say that you went to the store, or, I don't know, describe a dream that you had, or a piece of news that you would like to share. Read it to yourself and out loud. If you see or hear any shortcomings or inconsistencies in your presentation , please rewrite them. Rewrite or correct the story until it becomes clear and simple.

Avoid curly and complex phrases, and break a long sentence into several short ones. What Lev Nikolayevich did brilliantly, you may not succeed at all. If you still like long sentences, then at least start by reducing the number of participial and adverbial turns, this will help avoid ambiguity. Especially the adverbial parts! They are not given to everyone, and their clumsy use distorts the meaning (there should be the famous “Passing by the station, the hat flew out of the taxi”. It seems so))).

Check the facts. After hearing the gossip, rumors, and information you have transmitted from “reputable” sources (one grandmother said), the interlocutor may demand proofs. And you will have only “I answer” or “Yes, I'm telling you for sure”from the evidence and explanations. Dialogues in the “my word against yours” category do not end with anything.

Refer to the source. The interlocutor may not agree with the source's position (if there are several points of view on the question), but they will definitely not accuse you of incompetence.

Check out a few views on the question or issue. You can choose the one that you personally found most convincing as the main one. But keep in mind that this view is not the only one.

Don't argue if you're not sure. Couldn't avoid getting into an argument? – Indicate that IT SEEMS to YOU that the situation is like this and like this. If you were wrong, admit it. Please review the issue later. Was the other person also wrong? – Share your information. You don't have to share it) Your knowledge has increased. And this is the main thing.

Try your best in communication. Always. It is better to think for 10 minutes and say or write clearly, than to hurry up and answer a bunch of clarifying questions. This saves your nerves, by the way)

And read it. Good texts. Listen to a good speech. It's just as contagious as the bad one. Only more useful at times)

And yes, avoid too long answers 😀

  6. Find relationships where they don't seem to exist. Do you know the meme about ” do you want it to be like in Ukraine?”It would seem that Ukraine has nothing to do with it. But politicians often shift a particular issue or issue in a different direction.

  7. Talk logically– be consistent. This means that you should not contradict yourself, and your judgments should necessarily follow from the premises. You must correctly use concepts, judgments, and inferences (this is part of the course of classical logic). It is very important to know the laws of thinking, especially the law of identity and the law of sufficient reason. Correct thinking is impossible without knowledge of the methods of deduction and induction.

But the most important thing is to understand logical errors and tricks, of which there are many: круг circle in proof, idem per idem, ad hominem, straw man (very common), appeal to authority or majority, and others. They should be avoided: truth and reputation are more expensive. But if you point out your opponent's inconsistency and ask them to think in the right way, then only you will win.

Don't evade the question. This skill is useless.

Read books on logic, rhetoric, philosophy, and history.

  8. I don't think avoiding an answer is a great skill.

I think it's best to try to answer the question clearly, even if you don't like it. Honesty is always one step ahead of dishonesty.

  9. The answers contain a lot of water, personal experience, and more than one worthwhile example. And what a person needs to develop in a cat. ,the thoughts set out on paper flow beautifully, logically, argumentatively, etc., and in conversation suffers from tongue-tied speech.

  10. Try to break down your speech into key components: the goal (the purpose of your message), the thesis (the main idea), the problem, the solution, the appeal. Try setting a goal-to justify the salary increase-and get it in your speech using the scheme described above.

To understand how the scheme works, check out the TED talks.

    I hope you will succeed.

  11. First, you need to work on your speech, it should be competent and measured. If you speak too fast, you will look worried; if you speak too slowly, you will be bored listening. You need to speak loudly enough, making the right accents in intonation. To avoid shouting, it is better to speak in a more or less quiet place. Your gaze should be confident, and at least occasionally you need to look at the interlocutor. Use gestures that are synchronized with your story.
To be a leader in a conversation, you need to genuinely believe in your idea. Use humor and good metaphors aimed at the other person. To take a break from the conversation, you can ask the other person a question that can't be answered yes or no. While he is talking, you gather your strength and consider various options for developing the conversation.
If you are asked an uncomfortable question, you answer with a question, but not confused, you seem to clarify the essence, but at the same time do not allow it to be answered and go in the other direction while the interlocutor digests.
Smile, relax, make jokes, and be confident. Everything will work out.

  12. It depends on the properties of your mind. And the mind is given at birth-or not given. In universities, we get a profession, skills, not intelligence. Here is an explanation of this topic from Ron Hubbard

  13. What you listed are skills. Therefore, you need to train a lot to acquire them.

To talk (and think) logically, learn logic. A very good book by Arno and Nicole, Logic or the Art of Thinking.

To learn how to correctly conduct a dispute, use Sergey Povarnin's textbook ” Dispute. On the theory and practice of dispute resolution”

  14. You need to learn to argue and justify your point of view, but at the same time learn to use the other person's point of view to enrich your argument. Train, with yourself or a partner, for example, he is in favor of legalizing prostitution, and you are against it. Previously, you prepare all the advantages of your policy, and he offers the advantages of his own and went to argue. He says, “But then there will be no diseases and all prostitutes will be treated by the state,” and you say, “Yes, but this will undermine the budget and divorces will occur more often,” and he replies, ” So in your opinion, divorces are related to the illegality of prostitution? Justify this connection.”.. This is a very interesting exercise, but it is very cool in the shortest possible time to teach you the principles of eloquence. Add here the constant study of new words on the subject and you will become an unsurpassed speaker. Everyone needs arguments, facts, knowledge and skills to present them, reveal them, and explain them in detail.

  15. “How to learn”?

Well, like how… you need to learn.

The learning process is usually long and convoluted, requiring the training and experience of those who already know how.

The very fact of realizing that you NEED to learn is already the first step to success.

Why did you start the argument?

If in order to reveal the truth that is interesting to both of you, then it is necessary not only to speak, but also to be able to listen.

If it is just to IMPOSE your opinion, then the most effective way is not to prove the correctness of my opinion, but to destroy the opponent's opinion.

There are many ways to destroy an opponent's opinion,

but, in my opinion, the most effective decomposition will be from the inside:

You agree with your opponent, accept their point of view, and start developing it… until you bring it to the point of absurdity so that the author himself is already sick.

That's all, now you can release your ideas on the cleared field, and they will sprout.

  16. To learn to talk logically, you must first know logic. To make arguments, you need to be competent on the topic of conversation. To evade the answers beautifully – this is not about logic, this is about rhetoric. To be one step ahead, you need to know the goal that the opponent is striving for in the conversation, and being competent in the topic-to look for the most significant objections of the opponent, this will be a situation where you are one step ahead.

Here, as in chess, knowing the theory, you can expect certain moves of the opponent according to the theory(if the opponent does not know the theory, then most likely he will lose), knowing them, and seeing the picture that will develop in 2-3 moves, you can use this picture for your own purposes. In this case, the task is only to know the possible options for the development of events and distribute these options according to priorities, from the strongest to the weakest. You can also add some variables to these parameters. For example, whether the opponent knows the strongest continuation, or what his psychological state is at the moment, or how he prefers to act in this situation. Knowing these points, we can assume the possible nature of his actions. Similarly, in a dialog, the algorithm is general, and the variables are individual.

This is all from personal experience, no scientific research has been conducted 🙂

    1. Training sessions, training sessions, and more training sessions. With the obligatory work on errors, analyzing your dialogues in the background (back in the sense of after the conversation).

    2. Trainings – to improve your skills and set your own personal chips. Better face – to-face sessions with your personal participation, if you can't-watch video recordings or listen to audio.

    3. Above all. Learn to set your goals clearly and correctly. What you want more. Win an argument and be right, or push the person to take the actions you need. Top-class manipulators tend to lose arguments, discussions, and give the impression of being driven, BUT the winners do what the manipulator originally wanted, but he simply did not openly declare it.

  17. First of all, you should take care of your conversational skills. It is necessary to conduct more frequent conversations with others (“live” – an emphasis on correspondence, according to my observations, contributes to the degradation of abilities to live communication)- practice will help you quickly give your thoughts an accessible verbal form, so you will have time to think about your next argument while you reproduce the current one. You can simultaneously engage in enriching your vocabulary by reading fiction or scientific literature.

Pay attention to the careful selection of words . Choosing the right synonym will make your speech easier for the other person to understand, thus eliminating the need to be distracted by additional explanations.

And, in the end, your knowledge of the subject of discussion should be much deeper than that of your interlocutor.

  18. Why do you need this skill? Convince a person that you're right? Leaving beautifully from the answer is unlikely that you will be able to convince anyone of anything.

Start by reading the book by A. Y. Panasyuk ” How to convince yourself that you are right. Modern psychotechnologies of persuasive influence”. Maybe it will help.

  19. Develop a mental reaction, read books and develop general erudition, work on the technique of verbal speech, and most importantly-communicate more with people;)

  20. First of all, you need to have some prerequisites for this.
I don't mean talent for it, but rather desire and motivation.
If a person chooses to help other people, convince them where they are wrong, and “beat up” opponents who bring a clearly harmful idea to the world-everything will work out for him. Such a statement of the question very quickly helps to develop not only intelligence and logic, but also imagination. If it is precisely for this purpose that this is done, in order to debunk some myths and dispel the fog caused by various scammers.

A good driving force for developing the mind is to compare one with the other. The brighter and more unusual, the better. First you say something stupid, and then you make excuses.
    1. All cyclists are like cabbages!!!
    2. Why did I say that?! We need to come up with something immediately, which makes my statement not completely nonsense, but a profound philosophical concept or at least a joke.
    3. If you throw them off the roof , they will break. They also don't need a driver's license.
