  2. The brain is a complex self-regulating evolving system. It consists of an astronomical number of elements. They are called neurons, and they are connected to each other in neural networks.
    Neurons are special cells of the nervous system that have the property of being activated, i.e. generating impulses (flashes) of electric current. These flashes are transmitted to other neurons that are connected to this neuron. Connected neurons form a neural network. There are a lot of these networks in the brain, and they are specialized in the perception of various signals (visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile, etc.), organizing actions, extracting information from memory, forming emotions, and processing information about the state of vegetative functions of the body (for example, blood sugar concentration), etc.
    Information enters the brain through special cells-receptors, “external” parts of the sensory organs (retinal cells of the eye, cochlear hair cells of the hearing aid, etc.). Incoming information activates neural networks specifically tuned to certain “features”, “signs”, and features inherent in this incoming information. This activation is characterized by the fact that all neurons of the activated network are discharged at the same frequency, and synchronized activity occurs in this network of neurons. As a result of learning, interaction of the organism with the external environment, specific patterns,” patterns ” of neural network activity form representations of objects of the external world (the so-called “What?” system) and of space (the so-called “Where?”system).
    These patterns are transformed in the brain, in the depths of the temporal lobe, in the hippocampus, “overwritten”, recoded taking into account previous similar experiences and recorded in long-term memory. A “request” can cause this information to be extracted from memory by activating the neural networks where this information is recorded.
    In the frontal regions of the brain, based on inputs from sensory systems, memory, and the emotion regulation system (which includes information about the state of the body's internal systems), ideas about the current requirements of the body are formed and a decision is made about the organization of a particular action. This information goes through several stages of further processing and goes to the motor cortex of the brain, and then to motor neurons – neurons that control muscle movements. And then the person acts.
