  1. You write as if you've already tried, but for some reason it didn't work out.

If so, then you need to think about the way you have already tried to” achieve ” mentoring and understand what went wrong.

If you haven't tried it yet, you just need to talk to this person, for example, over lunch. Tell him that you admire his experience and skills and would like to follow in his footsteps professionally, become the same cool specialist. Ask the council what they think you should do to do this. Agree that you will periodically ask for his advice and discuss some tasks together, you can also have lunch or coffee 🙂

If a person is not too introverted, then most likely he will not be against it, but will be very much in favor 🙂

And share with him your achievements made thanks to his advice, he will be pleased 🙂

    Good luck to you!

  2. The best option is to talk to them about their apprenticeship. Ask yourself the question-what will this person get if they take you as an apprentice? Does he need it? Link your apprenticeship to what the potential mentor needs.

You can become his assistant. Offer your help with work issues. On the one hand, volunteering is fashionable today, but on the other hand, you can immediately clarify that you share the idea and are ready to help in its implementation.

You can be a student by reading his books/articles/blog, reflecting, creating your own notes, comments to which the mentor will respond, argue, explain some ideas.

  3. Ask HIM all these questions. Bluntly, frankly. Just tell them that YOU VALUE THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE, AND THAT YOU WANT TO LEARN FROM THEM. In your set of questions-ALL this is there.
A true master-LIVES FOR THIS MOMENT! HE WANTS TO PASS ON HIS KNOWLEDGE to the student who really WANTS it!
Do not flatter and pompous enthusiasm, HIS PERSONAL QUALITIES. JUST LEAVE THAT ASIDE. Simple respect as a TEACHER is enough.
I'm no longer young, and I know what I'm saying!
Simply, not every master is GRANTED by GOD – A REAL DISCIPLE!
    Good luck!
