  1. I wear a fitness bracelet and can tell from its statistics that any of my natural awakenings take place in a shallow sleep. Sometimes I wake up 2-3 times for 1 minute, fall asleep again, wake up again, but the deep phase of sleep is long gone. By the way, the deep and shallow phases alternate 3 times a night. Perhaps this is only true for my body, but with a calm awakening in most cases, most people will pass in a shallow phase.
