  1. No, that's not true. Indeed, among the methods for producing artificial diamonds, there is something similar to a candle – the so-called “chemical deposition of carbon from the gas phase”. But it requires a strictly defined chemical composition of the atmosphere (methane-hydrogen mixture), high temperatures (800 degrees temperature of the substrate for deposition) and strong ionization of the original gas mixture (microwave radiation or laser), otherwise carbon deposition occurs in the form of soot, not diamond.:)
