  1. To the answer above, I would add that there is hope of deciphering the scrolls that were charred in Herculaneum during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. They are now trying to read them using tomography. Euripides has not yet been found there, but Epicurus and Philodemus of Gadara have been found.

  2. I'd also like to mention the Vatican Library. The Catholic Church has fought so hard and consistently against pagan gods that it has accumulated the world's largest collection of antiquities in the Vatican. They say there is much more stored in the cellars than was in the library of Alexandria. Maybe some reformist Pope will let scientists in…
