Certainly, Schopenhauer should begin to study with the treatise ” On the insignificance and sorrows of life.” Perhaps it is this work of Schopenhauer, like no other, that conveys the unique character of his philosophical worldview. After reading it, it becomes clear why Schopenhauer became famous as one of the most pessimistic philosophers in world history. In addition, this treatise is written in a beautiful, truly poetic language, replete with succinct and understandable metaphors, and at the same time it is quite easy for intellectual perception. No wonder Kafka argued that Schopenhauer was worth reading for the sake of language alone.
