Not true. The term “mentally ill” is too broad: it can be associated with both bipolar disorder (manic-depressive psychosis) and schizophrenia. There are schizophrenic patients who are fully aware of their illness – many of them initially come to the clinic themselves, on a voluntary basis. What can not be said about people with depression-they are “doing well”, even when they were taken by ambulance. Everything is very individual here…
