This is considered a disorder( disease), it affects about 10% of people. It is more accurate to say that this is not called sleepwalking (the moon has nothing to do with it), but Somnambulism (sleepwalking). Contributing factors include head injuries, fever, arrhythmia, nighttime asthma attacks, stress, alcohol, and certain medications. Some are observed from birth.
