Because in reality, we act, as a rule, consciously, and consciousness is controlled by social norms, morals and other charms obtained as a result of socialization. Sleep has an irrational nature – all our unconscious fears and desires are forced out there, but in a coded form. Looking for a rational beginning in a dream does not make sense, you need, as they say, to consider the big picture.
I, for one, never understood why in my dream I was deflecting Darth Vader's lightsaber with an almond shell. Perhaps this is nothing more than processing the information received during the day.
